The GRIDVAR Series is Forte's active power quality product family — covering both SVG (Static Var Generator) and AHF (Active Harmonic Filter) functions across three distinct technology tiers. Each tier addresses different performance, size, and cost requirements.
Unlike passive systems, GRIDVAR modules respond in milliseconds to dynamic load changes, providing continuous reactive power compensation and harmonic filtering without the risk of over-compensation or resonance. A single GRIDVAR module can perform both SVG and AHF functions simultaneously.
Choose the tier that matches your performance requirements and budget. All three models are available as SVG or AHF configuration and can be integrated into complete Forte-fabricated panels.
Cost-effective active compensation for standard industrial applications. Proven IGBT technology with wide capacity range.
StandardHigh-density IGBT platform. Only 88 mm height — 40% cabinet space saving. Up to 1200 kVAr in a single cabinet. Full 2nd–51st harmonic filtering.
Most PopularSilicon Carbide (SiC) switching device. Over 100 kHz switching frequency. 4 µs instantaneous response. Up to 98% efficiency. For steel mills, arc furnaces and the most critical harmonic environments.
Premium SiCA side-by-side comparison of all three GRIDVAR tiers to help you select the right model for your application.
GRIDVAR modules are integrated into complete switchboard panels by Forte's engineering team — custom-built to your required capacity, tested, documented and ready for site installation. Multiple cabinets can be connected in parallel for installations exceeding single-cabinet capacity.
Complete static var generator panel for reactive power compensation. Capacity tailored to project requirements.
Active harmonic filtering panel. GRIDVAR-X provides full AHF functionality with significant THD reduction; performance subject to system conditions.
Combined active SVG and passive GRIDFIX compensation for optimal cost-performance.
Combined active AHF and passive detuned filter stages for full power quality correction.
For facilities with dynamic loads, variable harmonic content, or strict power quality requirements, active compensation delivers results that passive systems simply cannot match.
GRIDVAR responds in milliseconds — not cycles. The GRIDVAR-X SiC series reacts in just 4 µs instantaneously, eradicating transients from arc furnaces and large presses before they propagate into the grid.
A single GRIDVAR module simultaneously performs reactive power compensation (SVG) and harmonic filtering (AHF). One cabinet, one installation, one interface.
Unlike passive capacitor banks, GRIDVAR continuously measures and adjusts output — eliminating the risk of over-compensation that damages equipment and increases penalties.
Especially with GRIDVAR-C (Compact Series), active compensation fits into spaces where traditional passive panels cannot. Ideal for retrofits and space-constrained installations.
GRIDVAR-C and GRIDVAR-X filter the full 2nd–51st harmonic spectrum. Each harmonic order can be independently enabled or disabled. GRIDVAR-G covers the 2nd–25th range — sufficient for most industrial applications.
By eliminating reactive power penalties and reducing harmonic-related failures — GRIDVAR typically pays back within 12–24 months depending on facility size and tariff structure.
Active compensation excels wherever loads are dynamic, harmonic content is high, or power factor targets are strict.
Arc furnaces, rolling mills, crane drives. Highest dynamic load variation requiring instantaneous compensation.
Rapid load swings from crane acceleration and deceleration. Passive systems cannot track fast enough.
Large VFD-driven conveyors, crushers, and grinding mills with severe harmonic generation.
UPS systems, server loads. Strict harmonic and power factor requirements for grid compliance.
MRI, CT, and surgical equipment. Sensitive loads requiring clean, stable power without distortion.
100–800 kVAr SVG panels as a drop-in upgrade from traditional capacitor banks. Any voltage, any sector.
High-power motor drives generating 5th, 7th, 11th harmonic currents that damage capacitors and transformers.
Solar inverters, EV charging stations, and battery systems requiring reactive power support and harmonic control.
