Forte's active power quality range is built as two families on one hardware platform. GRIDVAR is the SVG family — its primary function is reactive power compensation. GRIDSINE is the AHF family — its primary function is harmonic filtering. Each family spans the same three technology tiers. Each tier addresses different performance, size, and cost requirements.
Unlike passive systems, both families respond in milliseconds to dynamic load changes, without the risk of over-compensation or resonance. A GRIDVAR module also suppresses harmonics to the extent of its residual capacity, and a GRIDSINE module also supplies reactive power the same way — but each is optimised for its own primary function and the two are ordered as separate items.
